Well, our vacation was great! The weather was icky the first 2 days but it was almost perfect after that. All of the islands we visited in the Bahamas were so gorgeous and all of the people were so friendly. Our favorite day was at the private island, so relaxing and beautiful!
Coming home was not so great...My right foot/leg started to swell up the last couple days of the cruise. Then I started getting some sharp shooting pains on the inside of my right leg. I kind of just blew it off as being pregnant and swollen from all of the walking that we were doing. Well, when we got back home late Saturday night I took a look at my leg and it was so badly swollen and red/purple. I knew something was wrong then...I decided to sleep with my legs elevated and if it wasn't any better in the morning I would call my OB office to see if they were concerned.
I woke up the next morning with more shooting pains (BAD, they were excruciating) in my right leg. The swelling had gone down but it was still all red. I called my OB office and spoke to the Dr. on call that day and she was very concerned and sent me straight to the ER. They thought for sure I had a DVT and sent me to ultrasound to have my legs checked out for any clots. To their surprise, they couldn't find any clots in either leg. Thank God!
Turns out I have Phlebitis which means I have inflamed veins. They're not sure how I picked it up, likely from all of the traveling. They didn't put me on bed rest but they do want me to lay with my feet elevated as much as possible. I also get to wear these very sexy compression stockings while I'm at work since I sit at a desk most of the day and keep a heating pad on my feet/legs. It should go away soon, thank goodness!
So that was my fun filled Sunday afternoon! I'll post again with some pictures of the Bahamas ASAP!
